Why Containered
Built differently, by people who care.
We're a small, specialist team. Every home we build is designed by our own people, using materials we'd put in our own house.
Talk directly with your builders
You deal with the people who design and build your home — not a sales team. Real answers, faster decisions, fewer surprises.
One-use containers only
We only use containers that have never been lived in or used for hazardous materials. Structural integrity and peace of mind from day one.
6-star energy as standard
Every home meets a minimum 6-star NatHERS energy rating. Better insulation, lower bills, and a more comfortable home year-round.
Fully council approved
We manage the planning and approval process. You don't need to chase paperwork — we've done this many times before.
Local tradespeople, Australian materials
We build with local tradespeople and source Australian materials wherever possible. Less freight, better quality control, and accountability you can rely on.
Installed in 12 weeks
Once the build is complete, your home is transported and installed on site. From delivery to move-in, typically within 12 weeks of completion.
How it works

Engineering and Design
Final designs are produced and reviewed by a structural engineer.
Council Submission
We prepare and lodge planning and building permit applications.
Building Commencement
Construction starts in our Melbourne workshop under controlled conditions.
Delivery & Handover
Your home is transported and installed on site, then handed over ready to live in.
Sustainable by design
Built to perform, not just look good.
Every Containered home is designed to meet a minimum 6-star NatHERS energy rating. Quality insulation, double-glazed windows, and considered orientation mean your home stays comfortable year-round with minimal energy use.
We only use one-use containers — structures with known histories and no contamination risk. It's not just a marketing claim; it's a commitment to the homes we put our name on.

Answers before you ask.
Container homes come with plenty of questions. Here are the ones we hear most often.
See all FAQsHow much does a container home cost?
Pricing varies depending on size, configuration, and site conditions. Get in touch for a free consultation and we'll give you a realistic estimate based on your specific situation.
Can I build on rural or regional land?
Yes. We deliver and install Australia-wide. Container homes are particularly well-suited to rural and regional blocks where traditional construction can be difficult or expensive.
Do I need council approval?
Yes — all container homes require planning and building permits. We manage this process and have experience with a wide range of councils across Victoria and other states.
How long does the build take?
The construction phase typically takes 10–14 weeks. From first consultation to installation, most projects are complete within 6–9 months depending on approval timeframes.
Do you work with owner-builders?
Yes. We work with both owner-builders and clients who want a full turnkey build. We'll talk through both options during your consultation.
What's included in the price?
Our homes come fully fitted — appliances, fixtures, finishes, and cabinetry are all included. The two things you provide are a prepared site and your mattresses.
