Build process
How much does a container home cost?
Pricing varies depending on size, configuration, and site conditions. Our Classic Series starts at $107,800 plus GST for a one-bedroom home. Get in touch for a free consultation and we'll give you a realistic estimate based on your specific situation.
How long does the build take?
The construction phase typically takes 10–14 weeks. From first consultation to installation, most projects are complete within 6–9 months depending on approval timeframes with your local council.
Do you work with owner-builders?
Yes. We work with both owner-builders and clients who want a full turnkey build. We'll talk through both options during your consultation. Owner-builder licensing requirements vary by state — check with the VBA (Victoria) or your local equivalent.
What's included in the price?
Our homes come fully fitted — appliances, fixtures, finishes, and cabinetry are all included. The two things you provide are a prepared site and your mattresses.
Are the containers safe to live in?
We only use one-use containers — structures that have never been used to transport hazardous materials and have a known history. Combined with proper insulation, structural reinforcement, and certified engineering, they make excellent dwellings.
Site & approvals
Can I build on rural or regional land?
Yes. We deliver and install Australia-wide. Container homes are particularly well-suited to rural and regional blocks where traditional construction can be difficult or expensive.
Do I need council approval?
Yes — all container homes require planning and building permits. We manage this process and have experience with a wide range of councils across Victoria and other states. Local rules vary, so verify with your council before committing.
Sustainability
How energy efficient are Containered homes?
Every Containered home meets a minimum 6-star NatHERS energy rating. Quality insulation, double-glazed windows, and considered orientation mean your home stays comfortable year-round with minimal energy use.
Delivery & install
How does delivery and installation work?
Your completed home is transported to your site by truck and craned into position. Most homes are on site and connected within a day of arrival. Delivery costs vary by location and are quoted case by case.
